Omer J. Dufour, 85 years, of West Bridgewater died Tuesday June 16, 2009 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband for 65 years of Lucia M. (Bolduc) Dufour. Born and raised in St.Isodore d’Auckland Quebec Canada he was the son of the late Jules and Josephine M. (Martin) Dufour. Omer left Canada as a young man and had been a resident of the Brockton area for 40 years. He started his career as a lumberjack in Canada and made his living as an operating engineer. In his retirement he worked at LD Plastics in Brockton.
Omer had been a member of the Local 4 Union and the Knights of Columbus and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening with his wife but his true love was his family.
In addition to his wife he was the father of ten children Marguerite Darling of Turner, Maine; Mariette Thomas of Brockton; the late Yvan Dufour of Meridian Idaho; Caroline Michel of Prince George, Virginia; Lina Dufour of Bridgewater; Normand Dufour of Brockton; Regis Dufour of West Roxbury; Anita Harlfinger of No. Easton; Bernadette Braden of Hampton, Virginia; Raymond Dufour of Chesterfield, Virginia and the late Yvan Dufour of Meridian Idaho. He also leaves 29 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Yvonne Rose, Yvette McElroy and Juliette Boisvert all of Sherbrooke, Quebec and the late Fernand, Gerard, Ovila, Aurele and Leo Dufour.
Visiting hours will be in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-8 pm and Saturday 12-4 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday June 24, 2009 in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater at 10 am. Burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
