Obituary

DUDLEY- John A. Deary, 61, of 2 Shepherd Avenue, died Wednesday, January 21, in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.

He leaves 3 children, Kimberly Deary of Thompson, CT, John Deary Jr. and his wife Trina of Leicester, and Corey Deary of North Grosvenordale, CT; 5 siblings, Jane E. Grochowski and her husband Tom of Webster, Timothy G. “Timmy” Deary and his wife Kimberly of Dudley, Mark R. Deary and his wife Karen of Webster, Mary P. Paul and her husband James of Dudley, with whom he lived, and Catherine A. Deary of North Grafton; a sister-in-law, Debra Deary of Dudley; 3 grandchildren, Amanda, Mason and Ashlyn; 2 uncles, and aunt, and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis J. “Tucker” Deary, III in 2008.

He was born in Webster, the first of the seven children of Francis J. Deary, Jr. and Mary E. (Allen) Deary. He graduated from Bartlett High Trade School in 1966.

Mr. Deary was the steward at the Past Time Café in Webster for many years before retiring in 2006.

He was a member of St. Louis Church in Webster and of the Sons of the American Legion Post #184. He was active in the Booster Athletic Club in Webster. He enjoyed stock car racing and drove in the modified series in the late 1960’s.

The funeral will be held Monday, January 26, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 lake St., Webster. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, January 25, in the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Booster Athletic Club Scholarship Fund, 215 North Main St., Webster, MA 01570.
