Virgil Lewis Tapp, went to be with his Lord, January 13, 2009.
He was born March 30, 1926 in Lancaster, Ky, the son of William and Margaret Tapp, preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife Virginia Gastineau Tapp of 63 years; five children, Nelma Shipp (Jim), Sue Lile (Dwight), Kenneth Tapp (Deborah), Penny Lucas (Doug), and Becky Tapp; 8 grandchildren, Kim Englert (Joe), Garen Stout (Jeff), Jason Lile (Jessica), Jeremy Lile (Val), Kenny Tapp (Jennifer), Travis Tapp (Kara), Chris and Caleb Lucas; 14 great-grandchildren.
He served in the Army in WWII. He was a member of Shively Christian Church where he served as an elder for 40 plus years. He served on the board of Regents at Louisville Bible College, the board at Christian Care Communities, the board at Cedar Lake Lodge, and the board of directors of Kentuckiana Christian Mission. He was named a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from Mortgage Banking in 1993 after serving with Pence and Coldwell.
His service will be 11am Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday 11am-8pm and Friday after 9am at the funeral home.
