Obituary

Herbert Oliver "Jake" Isdell, Sr., 83, of Omega died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joe Kearce, Jr. and Rev. Ken Potts will officiate with burial to follow in Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery. Jackie Black, Luther Black, Brian Potter, Joey Underwood, Johnny Harrod and Bobby Feagin will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Mincey, Andy Harrell, Norris Manders and Buck Wood. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Isdell was born on January 26, 1925 in Richmond County and was the son of James Edward Isdell and Clara Holley Isdell, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert A. Isbell and Carl Isdell. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Landmark Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army for 18 years.

Mr. Isdell is survived by his wife, Mary Isdell of Omega; three sons and one daughter-in-law, James Edward Isdell of Omega, Herbert Isdell Jr. of Omega, and Charles Joseph and Cindy Isdell of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Isdell Harrod and her husband, Johnnie, of Warwick; two brothers, Allen Isdell of Augusta, and Charles Isdell of Augusta; two sisters, Elizabeth Whitaker of Augusta, and Ann Jahnke of Augusta; ten grandchildren, Kristen Feagin and her husband, Bobby, Kendall Isdell Hope Potter and her husband Brian, Amber Bennett, Aaron Isdell, Keith Isdell, Beth Wood, Heather Isdell, Rebecca Isdell and Amy Isdell; and six great grandchildren, Tyler Feagin, Victoria Feagin, Logan Feagin, Alayna Batten, Madison Potter and Tommy McBride.
