M. Lilianne (St. Hilaire) Sousa, age 85, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Friday, Dec. 21 at her home in Dracut. She was the wife of the late Jack Sousa.
She was born in Lowell, May 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Paul and Cora (Demers) St. Hilaire. Lilianne received her education through St. Joseph's School in Lowell
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary with Drs. Montminy, Optometrist, Lowell for 20 years. Lilianne was an avid horticulturist specializing in hostas. She was also a founding member, card number 16, of the American-Canadian Genealogy Society, now numbering over 10,000 members.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald and Johanna Sousa of Hudson, NH, and Mark and Kate Sousa of Dracut; four grandchildren, Christopher Sousa of NH, Sarah Lamontagne and her husband Ray of Maine, Jessica Bulloch and her husband Jonathan of Mass. and Joseph MacEachern of WA; three sisters, Claire Duhamel, Jeannette Camire and Pauline Hogan; six great grandchildren, Sebastion, Tobias, Samuel, Ezekiel, Sophia and Estella; also many nieces, nephews and dear friends, Fay and Dennis Vargeletis.
At her request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service is planned for the spring in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
