Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Jeanne L. (Lane) Gordon, 55, of 5 Patriots Circle died Friday evening, October 5, 2007, at her home following a brief illness. She was the wife of Bruce W. Gordon.
Born in Gloucester on June 4, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Anna Margaret (Santapaola) Lane and James O. Lane, Jr. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester public schools.
Jeanne and Bruce were high school sweethearts and were inseparable. Together they owned and operated Gordon’s Vending Company for many years. They were also commercial clam diggers for twenty-five years.
Jeanne’s first priority in her life was always her family. A devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, she took great pride in supporting the children of the family and made a point of attending as many of their various scholastic and sports activities as possible.
As active members of the Concerned Citizen’s Group of the Gloucester Housing Authority, she and Bruce worked tirelessly to help develop empowerment groups to improve the community in which they resided.
Since the passing of her parents, her living room has been adorned with a sign that reads “Everyday is a Bonus.” Jeanne embraced life and lived each day to its fullest. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her beloved husband of thirty-seven years, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail M. Gordon, companion of Daniel J. Barrett both of Lynn, Melanie J. and Peter “Black” Frontiero of Gloucester, three granddaughters, Shyla, Aisha and Tasara Frontiero, a brother, Emery Lane of Gloucester, two sisters, Doreen, wife of Philip “Butch” Angileri of Bridgewater, Lois, wife of William McRae of Gloucester, three sisters-in-law, Gail Enes, Elaine Mattson and Dawn Haskins and a brother-in-law, Richard Gordon. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including, Joanne Catalini. She was predeceased by her brother, James O. Lane, III and her sister-in-law, Vita “Cookie” Lane.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the family. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery.
