Obituary

Joel Hubert Hall, 74, of Tifton died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his residence Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Perry Rollins and Rev. Steve Tucker will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jacob Hall, Joe Starnes, Rick Buckley, Pedro Martinez, Dennis Bush and Jim Graham will serve as pallbearers. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Hall was born on July 16, 1933 in Tift County and was the son of Joseph Cleveland Hall and Emmie Matilda Pitts Hall, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Grover Hall, Bryant Hall, Cecil Hall and Cleveland Hall; and four sisters, Francis Hall Brown, Velma Hall Marchant, Eliza Hall Arrington and Myrtle Hall Arrington. He was a retired Physical Plant foreman with the University of Georgia Coastal Plains Experiment Station and was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was also a former bass singer with the Gospelaires gospel singing group.

Mr. Hall is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Carolyn Luke Hall of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell and Renae Hall of Mystic and Dale and Freida Hall of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Darren Shoupe of Tifton; two brothers, Kealous Hall of Tifton and Grady Hall of Ocoee, Florida; two sisters, Grace Hall Denby of Newton and Macy Hall Fogarty of Ocoee, Florida; nine grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
