Obituary

AMESBURY - James Wolkiewicz, 44, of Amesbury, formerly of Salem and Beverly, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston.

Born in Salem, he was the loving son of Edward “Buddy Walker” Wolkiewicz of Salem and the late Jessie (Radzinski) Wolkiewicz. A graduate of Salem High School in 1980, he lived in Salem for most of his life before moving to Beverly, where he lived for about 10 years. He recently lived in Newburyport and Amesbury.

He was first employed as an automobile mechanic at Iho’s Garage, a family owned business in Salem. He later worked as a machinist, a truck driver, a salesperson, and with his love for animals, he worked as a kennel attendant.

His hobbies included fishing and tinkering with motors and cars, but his true love was spending time with his sons.

He was a devoted father of two sons and a step-son, James “Jamie” Wolkiewicz, Jr. and David Wolkiewicz, both of Beverly, and Brian Hubis and his wife Jessica of Salem. He also leaves two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward I. & Ida Wolkiewicz of Peabody, Jesse & Robin Wolkiewicz of Salem, four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ellen & Glenn DuBois of Lunenburg, Jean & Dick Kenney of Salem, Mary Toppan of Gloucester, Wendy & Dana Cahill of Beverly, his former wife, Cheryl Gavazzi of Beverly, nephews and nieces, Jessica & Ginelle Wolkiewicz, David & Elise DuBois, Erin Toppan & Jake Cahill.

A Memorial mass will be celebrated on FRIDAY morning, June 8, 2007 at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours will be on WEDNESDAY, June 6, from 4 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
