WORCESTER-Dorothy J. (Smith) Poole, 82, of 13 Hitchcock Road, died Tuesday, October 17th in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 55 years, Elmo T. Poole died in 1999. She is survived by 2 sons; Richard E. and Thomas G. Poole, her daughter Marilyn G. Jubinville all of Worcester, a brother; Ronald Smith of Sutton, a sister; Patricia Berry of Leicester. She also leaves 5 grandchildren; Timothy and Melissa Jubinville, Richard and Kevin Poole and Lynn Lacava, 4 great-grandchildren; Kayla, Grant, Luke and Byron, many nephews and nieces and a special family friend Michelle Remuck. 2 brothers: Joseph and George Smith and a sister Mae Smith predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Samuel and Lily (Leeming) Smith, and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School. Mrs. Poole had been employed by Memorial Hospital, in the housekeping services department, retiring 25 years ago. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish; and enjoyed time spent with her family, reading, shopping, Hampton Beach and the Red Sox.
The funeral is Friday, October 20th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, October 19th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
