Calvin Middleton Franks, 85, of Tifton passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at his residence. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Franks at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. DeWayne Franks officiating. Mr. Franks will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Clayton Barnard, Rick Boggs , Richie Luke, Tim Duckworth, Ryan Rogers, Christopher Franks, Ronald Weinberg, Hunter Franks and Richard Lee Luke will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born September 22, 1939, in Marion, Alabama, Mr. Franks was the son of the late Kelly C. Franks and Annie Mae Green Franks. He was also preceded in death by one son, Alan Bruce Franks, who passed away in 2019; one brother, Leonard Franks; and one granddaughter, Christina Nicole Franks. Before retiring, he was a self-employed electrician and owner of Franks’ Repair Company, as well as Superintendent of Maintenance at Tifton’s First Baptist Church. He was a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church in Brookfield.
Mr. Franks loved his wife of 65+ years and all of his family. He enjoyed fishing, music, cooking, fish fries and his horses.
Mr. Franks is survived by his wife of 65+ years, Mary Alice Luke Franks, of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Mark Barnard of Tifton and Cindy and Dale Wells of Hilliard, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sally Franks of Enigma; two sisters, Donna Paulk and Carolyn Goforth, both of Tifton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial gifts may be made to a charity of choice.
