Mary A. (Alosso) Tonzillo
12/12/2024

Mary A. (Alosso) Tonzillo, of Medford, passed away on December 12, 2024. She was 70 years old. Mary was the beloved wife of Ciro P. Tonzillo. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Alice Dorothy “Dottie” (Morris) Alosso.

Prior to her retirement, Mary was employed as an administrator for Sentry Lincoln Mercury of Medford. This proved to be a great career for Mary as she was a lover of cars owning several Mercury Cougars throughout her days. Her latest ride was a 20 year old Mercury Moutaineer which is still in pristine condition. Mary loved when her 2 year old grandson, Salvy, would say, “Nonna has the big truck that goes fast.” It was always a topic of conversation between them and would make Mary giggle with pride. Aside from cars Mary loved animals, she has owned parakeets, cockatails and most recently, two cats, Laynie and L.C. However, her pride was her golden retriever, Molly. Mary would happily fill you up with joyous tales of the family pup…like the time Molly ate a calzone right off the counter on Christmas Eve. Mary was an extremely outgoing and social person. She could speak with anyone she encountered with ease and anyone who had this privilege always remarked how lovely she was. Mary always made it a point to keep in touch with relatives and friends. She also remained friendly with her neighbors, old and new. She once even inherited the nickname “beans” from one of the neighbors children because she always had jellybeans in her pockets being the lover of sweets that she was. In fact, you could often find her on one of her many shopping excursions at Yummy’s candies up in Kittery Maine. Mary’s greatest gift and accomplishment in life was her family. After 51 years of marriage and raising her now adult son, Mary happily devoted her life to her family. It was her little extra touches and attention to detail like the additional holiday cards from the pets and the phone calls to her son at the exact time of his birth each year that made her extra special. Mary will without a doubt be greatly missed.

Mary was the devoted mother of Ciro P. Tonzillo Jr. and his wife Brigette of Peabody. She was the adored grandmother of Salvy Tonzillo. Mary was the dear brother of Robert Alosso of Salt Lake City, UT. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours for Mary will be held on Tuesday, December 17, in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, MA, from 4-8PM. A funeral service for Mary will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 18, beginning at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited.
