Nina B. (Sinkevich) Tanguay

CHICOPEE – Nina B. (Sinkevich) Tanguay, 96, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 13, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on November 21, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Konstanty and Josephine (Kasel) Sinkevich. She was raised and educated in Holyoke, lived in South Hadley and moved to Chicopee in 1960, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was one of the last ladies to go through nurse’s training at Providence Hospital in Holyoke for the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II and graduated in 1948. She was a Registered Nurse at Providence Hospital, Northampton State Hospital, Holyoke Geriatric Authority, Willimansett Nursing Centers in Chicopee and the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Springfield. She enjoyed painting, cooking, baking, and needlework. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Bernard H. Tanguay who was Called Home on June 4, 1997. They were married on August 27, 1949 at Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving and devoted son, Dr. Dave B. Tanguay and his wife, Betse, of Chicopee; her five cherished granddaughters, Amy L. Tanguay and her husband, Paul Folta, of Ware, and Jessica C. Jordan of Monson, and Sharon, Kristin, and Allison; her five cherished great grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Nicholas, Brynn, and Luke; her cherished twin great great grandsons, Elliot and Enzo; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving son, Dennis J. Tanguay who was Called Home on July 28, 2015; her two dear brothers, Konstanty Sinkevich and Walter Sinkwich; and her dear sister, Mary Swist. A private graveside service was held at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. Her funeral arrangements were entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
