1935 – 2024
CHICOPEE - Ronald Normandin, 88 of Chicopee, MA, passed away on September 11, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. He passed from complications of a recent fall resulting in a broken hip and after several years battling chronic kidney disease. Ron is survived by his wife Pauline Eva (Boutin) Normandin. Married on March 2nd 1957. They were married 67 years residing in Chicopee, MA for the past 43 years. Ron and Pauline started a family tree of 24 lives. Ronald was born in Holyoke, MA on November 17, 1935 to his late parents, Phillippe Elphage Normandin and Blanche H. Deforge Normandin Sancoucy.
Ron was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He proudly wore his Korean Veteran hat everywhere he went. He retired from Balise Chevrolet after many years of managing several centers for Brunswick Bowling Corporation. Before his illness restricted him from the hobbies he enjoyed, he loved to bowl, golf and camp in his healthier years. He also loved his backyard animals. Not a meal went by that he didn’t save something to throw out the window to his birds and squirrels.
He is survived by his wife Pauline of Chicopee, his children Paula Solock (Jack), Lisa Kampman (Peter), Ronald Normandin, Jr. (Sharon), and Robert Normandin (Tracy). Ron also leaves great grandson Ryan Provost who resided with him. Robert and Ryan were Ron’s primary caregivers for the past year, providing him the support and care of his daily dialysis treatments. Ron also leaves his brother Armand Normandin (Patricia) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Renee Normandin, Janice Desrosiers and granddaughter Jaime Normandin who also passed on September 11th in 2003. She came on this day to bring him home. He also was predeceased by two brothers Ernest Normandin and Robert Normandin.
Honoring Ronald’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Ron will be buried at Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley MA, having a private ceremony at the convenience of the family. The family requests any donations to be made in his name to Saint Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Center.
