Peter O'Brien, beloved musician, skilled professional cook, and a dear friend and family member to many, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024. He was 53 years old. He is survived by his mother, Leticia Forker, of Leland, NC; his father, Kevin A. O’Brien, of Dennis, MA; his sister, Nicole O’Brien, of Norwalk, CT; and many other close relatives.
Peter's life was a symphony of passions. As a musician, he had a mastery of the guitar, ukulele, and banjo. His love for music brought him closer to many, creating lasting memories through shared performances and heartfelt collaborations.
Beyond music, Peter's culinary passion ran deep. A dedicated cook, he delighted in creating flavors that danced on the palate, earning admiration from friends, family, and patrons alike. Cooking was a canvas where he painted with ingredients and shared his love for good food with everyone fortunate enough to taste his creations.
Peter found solace in nature, particularly through his love for fishing. Whether casting a line into serene waters or sharing stories of the one that got away, he found peace and contentment in his fishing excursions with his dear friends.
Above all, Peter cherished his family and friends. He loved being around his family whenever there was a reason to celebrate, or just another Tuesday. He was a devoted friend; having maintained deep friendships that lasted over 40 years. He would lovingly talk about the time spent with his boys: Pat, JK, Dana, Shayne, Eric, Brother Phil, just to name a few. His kindness and consistency touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Peter’s legacy lives on through the music he played, the dishes he crafted, and the memories he shared. He leaves behind a community enriched by his passion, creativity, and love. May his spirit continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who mourn his loss. Peter will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, please go listen to a local musician at the nearest pub. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in October for family and friends.
