Worcester – Janet M. (Minor) Phaneuf, 86, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
Jan was married for 56 years to the late Richard H. Phaneuf, who passed away in 2012. She is survived by two sons, Michael R. Phaneuf and his wife, Diane of Holden and David P. Phaneuf and his wife Marla of Merrimack, NH; a daughter, Teresa A. Kirdulis and her fiancé, Howard Swindell of Leominster; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Lester and Melissa Minor and is also predeceased by a brother John Minor and his wife Beverly Minor.
Jan lived most of her life in Worcester and graduated from Saint Peter’s High School. She worked as an office manager for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Probate Court for over 35 years and retired in 2009.
She was a member of Saint Peter’s Church where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and CYC Advisor. Along with her husband, Jan headed the Pre-Cana program throughout the Diocese of Worcester. Jan and her husband were very active in St. Vincent de Paul’s Society charity. She was a woman of great faith and took great joy in being able to volunteer for her church community.
Jan was an avid reader and loved to travel with her husband, especially trips to Walt Disney World. She enjoyed watching game shows and Hallmark movies. Jan loved spending time with family and friends.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 4 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Peter’s Church 929 Main Street. Burial will follow on Tuesday, November 7 at 1:30 PM in Massachusetts National Veterans Cemetery, Bourne, MA. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the funeral home prior to her funeral. Memorial contributions in memory of Jan may be made to Saint Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Worcester, MA 01610 to help with their Social Ministry Program
