Daniel Joseph Foley
Retired U.S. Postal Service Supervisor
TEWKSBURY: Daniel Joseph Foley, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury for 27 years, retired to Hollywood Florida for 22 years, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial V.A. Hospital on Monday, August 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Diane L. (Ventura) with whom he celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on April 25, 2023, and the loving father of Laura-Ann Byers and her husband Bob, of Windham, NH and the late Christopher D. Foley.
Born in Cambridge on October 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph Foley and the late Ethel I. (Brown) Foley.
Dan was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Ringe Tech High School. He later attended Boston State College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business.
In 1966, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Dan was awarded several decorations for his military service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a supervisor by the U.S. Postal Service in Chelmsford, where he worked for 20 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time with his family and taking trips with his wife to Aruba. He was an avid Boston sports fan.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by four grandchildren, Zachary, Jake, Ashley and Brooke Byers. Dan was the brother of William Foley and his wife Lucia, of Westfield, Brian Foley and his wife Mimi, of Pembroke, Mary Lou Eisner and her husband Ken, of Stoneham and the late Leonard Foley and his late wife Ann and the late Michael Foley.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life to be held on Sunday August 27th at 4pm at The Establishment located at 75 Princeton Street North Chelmsford, MA.
