Sandra J. Georgopoulos
Dewing School Aide and Caregiver
TEWKSBURY: Sandra J. “Sandy” (Wight) Georgopoulos, age 53, a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, and a longtime aide at Tewksbury’s Dewing School, passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Sunday, April 16, 2023, with her family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Peter Georgopoulos, with whom she would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on May 18, 2023.
Born in Everett on July 21, 1969, she was the daughter of Cheryl A. (Gamby) Wight, who survives her, and the late Barry R. Wight, who passed away May 22, 2020.
Sandy was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School with the Class of 1988.
For the past 16 years, she has been employed by the Tewksbury Public School Department assisting teachers and providing support to special needs students and their families.
In addition to her husband and mother, Sandy is survived by her two sons, Nicholas F. and Matthew R. Georgopoulos, both of Tewksbury: her sister, Kimberly Piccolo and her husband Albert, of Ossipee, NH: her brother, Steven Wight and his wife Maliya (Azouz), of Uxbridge: her best friend, Colleen Gleason, of Pelham, NH: as well as many extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Friday, April 21st from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Saturday, April 22nd, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
