Sandra A. Harper, 78, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at her daughter’s residence in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 8, 2023, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, Georgia, with Brother Joey Veal officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Harper was born July 31, 1944, in Tift County, Georgia, to the late Troy Lee & Florence Connell Akins. After graduating high school, she attended Ben Hill-Irwin Technical College and earned her Accounting certificate. She retired as an accountant with Sunny Dale Training Center. She loved to read and crochet. She enjoyed working on their farm and collecting tea sets.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne H. (Doug) Griffin of Ocilla; son, Troy (Cecilia) Harper of Ocilla; grandchildren: Sheena (Ahren) Downey, Marcus (Lauren) Griffin, Kim Griffin & fiancé Steven Smith, Amanda (Spencer) Bridge, Steven (Lori) Harper, Kaylynn (Corey) Hulett and Alexis (Keon) West; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Julia (Lamar) Frazier of Tifton and Rebecca Howard of Duluth; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy R. Harper; a great-granddaughter, Khloe Raelynn West; a sister, Rosemary Sizemore; a brother: Michael Akins.
