Valerie J. Barbour

BILLERICA: Valerie J. Barbour, age 67, a longtime resident of Billerica, secretary for Billerica’s Kennedy School, Billerica Memorial High School, and the Dutile school until her retirement, passed away at home on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
Born in Lowell on September 13, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Richard B. Barbour and the late June M. (Schulz) Barbour.
Valerie was raised in Billerica and attended Billerica Public Schools.
She worked for the Billerica School Department for over 20 years until her retirement.
Valerie enjoyed numerous outdoor activities especially kayaking, hiking, and camping. In addition, she took great pleasure from flower gardening and bird watching.
Survivors include her two sons, Earl R. Powers and his significant other, Stacy Knight, of Conway, NH, and Joseph L. Powers, of Winchester: grandchildren, Eliviena, Kaleb, Karsen, Rennar, Jose, Amanda, P.J., Richie, Ben, and Leeyana. She also leaves Patricia Ramos, who was thought of as a daughter.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, Jan. 7th, from 1-4 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mass Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773 or online at www.massaudubon.org.
