Stephen Joseph Gagne, 61, of Worcester died Saturday, December 3rd in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife of 19 years, Michele (Gerard) McKeon; a son, Andrew S. Gagne and his wife, Adrielli of Worcester; two daughters, Michaela E. Gagne and her partner, Kayleigh Mason of Shrewsbury, and Gemma I. Gagne of Worcester; two brothers, Michael Gagne and his wife, Laurie of Dartmouth, and John Gagne and his wife, Kendra of Dublin, OH; and two sisters, Marie Stacy and her husband, William of Baltimore, MD, and Jane Menzel and her husband, Charlie of Hillsborough, NC. He also leaves a grandson, Noah Gagne of New Bedford, many nieces and nephews; extended family, and friends, especially Michael Murphy of Nashua, NH and David Loranger of Dartmouth.
He was born in Worcester the son of the late Gerard and Lorraine (Raboin) Gagne. Steve graduated from Dartmouth High School and attended the former Southeastern Massachusetts University. He worked as a bread salesman for many years, retiring due to a back injury. A member of St. John’s Church, Steve was guided by his Catholic faith and enjoyed volunteering and donating bread from his bread franchise to the Food for the Poor Program at St. John’s. Steve lived his life with joy, enthusiasm, drive, and devotion toward the people and purposes he loved, and he gave this love generously. Steve was tremendously dedicated and loyal to his family and friends. He delighted in sharing adventures with them through outdoor trips, kayaking, hiking, cooking, and enjoying good food at culturally diverse restaurants. He could often be found exploring projects around renovating his home or discovering great bargains at thrift and antique stores. A friend of Bill W, Steve loved all corgis (especially Murphy), classic cars, the Patriots, Red Sox, the Celtics, and spending time at Roundhill Beach, Dartmouth.
His funeral is Friday, December 9th with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. John’s Church, 44 Temple Street. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday, December 9th from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
