John (Jack) Stanton, 73, passed away 11/02/2022 in Oxnard, CA. Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY to John Patrick Stanton and Margaret Mary McConnell on 2/19/1949. He was raised on Long Island and went to Seaford High School. Jack went on to attend St. Edward's University in Austin, TX and studied psychology. During his college years he worked at the Texas School for the Deaf as a counselor and became proficient in sign language. He stayed in Austin after college and worked in the thriving music scene where he managed several famous musicians. In the early 80's he went back to N.Y to be with his family and worked for Western Union in security and then worked his way up to 1 of 4 regional managers. By the late 80's Jack headed west to California to visit his cousin ...it is there that he fatefully met his wife Carrie. Jack and Carrie were married in 1990. They owned and operated a successful clothing and home accessory company till 2007. After that Jack and a long time friend opened an old fashioned themed candy and soda shop. Jack loved to greet his customers every day, his customers loved him and he sure loved them .
Jack was loving, kind, supportive, funny and charismatic. He had a great "N.Y" sense of humor. He loved music, the beach, Mexico and fishing. He loved spending time with his most loyal companion, his miniature schnauzer Theodore. Jack was smart and quick-witted. He could talk politics for hours. He loved tooling around the beach in his convertible that he named "The blue meanie". He loved sports and was an avid and talented fisherman and spent many early days on long range fishing trips with his best buddies. He was a huge Texas Longhorn fan and a big supporter of any and all UT sports.
He was married for 32 years to his best friend Carrie and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who new him.
He is survived by his wife Carrie Stanton, his sister Mary Ann Purack, his brother Bob Stanton and nieces, Regina Eleanor, Margaret Mary Feeley and Grace Stanton .
He is proceeded in death by his parents John and Margaret Stanton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation.
