Obituary

Hughes, Constance M. (Brennan) of Dover, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Born on August 23, 1929 in Newton, Massachusetts. Connie and her brother Paul were the the children of Elsie and Paul R. Brennan. Connie graduated from Newton High School and Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, Massachusetts. She was also a model for the prestigious Hart Model Agency under Mildred Albert in Boston, MA.

Connie later was married to John M. Hughes Jr. with whom she shared 41 years of love, happiness, and adventure. Together they had 5 children and raised their family in Dover, Massachusetts, as well as East Orleans, MA and Stuart, FL where she enjoyed hosting many family gatherings. As her family continued to grow to include 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, known as Connie and John (a.k.a. Nana and Grandpa).

Beyond her dearest John, her life focused on her family, her faith, her love of people, her faith in God and her devotion to family is her legacy, and a gift to all who knew her. Connie is survived by son (Jay) John M. Hughes III of Dover, MA, son Scott R. Hughes and wife Cheryl of Dover, MA., Daughter Gail Hughes Reimann and husband Kurt of Dover, MA., daughter-in-law Carol Hughes of Dover, MA., son Paul M. Hughes and wife Meg of Duxbury, MA. Connie is also survived by 10 grandchildren, John Hughes and wife Maura, Thomas Hughes and wife Jessica, Theodore Hughes Reimann and wife Brittany, and Whitney Mather Reimann, Laura Hughes, James Hughes, Leslie Hughes Campbell, and husband Andrew, Mark Hughes and wife Kara, Sarah Hughes (and her beloved Tyler Longland) and Elizabeth Hughes. Connie is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren: Allie, Hannah and Teagan Hughes, in addition to many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly. Connie was predeceased by her husband John M. Hughes Jr. and her beloved son, Craig S. Hughes.

Her visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Wellesley, on Friday, October 28 from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, October 29, at 9:30am followed by a funeral Mass in Most Precious Blood Church, 30 Centre St. Dover at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Highland Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Connie’s name can be made to The Church of the Most Precious Blood, 30 Centre St. Dover, MA 02030.
