Linda G. (Garlington) Sylvia, 65, of Fairhaven passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 10, 2022. She was the wife of Scott A. Sylvia; they had been married for 43 years.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Dorothy M. (Kenyon) Garlington and the late James Garlington.
Linda was a loving wife, mother, Nanny, daughter, sister, and friend. Spending time with her mother, husband, children, and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She was loved by many as she left a part of herself with everyone she touched.
Linda began her long career in fashion working for Kay Windsor women’s clothing group. Her next chapter, working with several New Bedford based garment manufacturers, took her to the New York City Garment District dealing with numerous national and international clients. Later, after raising her children, she was a leader, mentor, and friend to her national Silpada Designs jewelry team. Most recently, she worked for Brahmin with friends as part of their in-store sales team in Fairhaven.
In her spare time, she enjoyed playing pickleball, skiing, hiking, going to the ocean, walking her dog Sadie, and traveling the world with her husband.
She is survived by her husband Scott; her mother Dorothy; her children, James Sylvia and his wife Leigh, Corey Sylvia and his wife Nora, and Chelsea Vieira and her husband Tyler; her brothers, James Garlington and his wife Susan, David Garlington and his wife Monique, Scott Garlington and his wife Ena, and Peter Garlington and his wife Nina; her grandchildren, Oliver, Violet, Scarlett, and Hadley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11 AM at St. John Neumann Church, East Freetown.
