Robert Lewis Cox, born June 30, 1947, died April 6, 2022 at the age of 74 after a brief illness.
He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Doris Cox, his beloved wife Cheryl and older brother John. He is survived by his daughter Anne Corrao (Matthew) of Franklin TN, son Andrew Cox of East Bridgewater, daughter Katherine Lucey (Dennis) of Knoxville TN, 2 granddaughters Madeline and Bridget, as well as 3 younger siblings, adult nieces and nephews, extended family and lifelong friends.
Robert (Bob) will be remembered as loving and devoted husband. He was a fiercely steadfast family supporter, a Dad proud of his children and a doting grandfather. He was a loyal friend who cared deeply about the well-being of others and never forgot his Hanson roots.
After retiring from years in the wholesale meat business, Bob refocused his energies on philanthropic endeavors that spoke to him. He served as a Trustee for First Congregational Church Hanson, hosted an annual community Thanksgiving dinner, helped to start an outreach mission to an underserved community, and supported various caused that strived to improve the human condition.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday April 20, from 5 - 7 pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the rotary) in Whitman. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21 at 11 am at First Congregational Church Hanson (639 High St). A private interment will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson
