Richard T. McLaughlin
Retired Local # 7 Iron Worker
TEWKSBURY: Richard T. McLaughlin, age 79, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus on Saturday, November 6, 2021, following an extended illness.
He was the beloved companion of Pauline M. (Moriarty) Morris.
Born in Cambridge on December 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Edward F. McLaughlin and the late Catherine A. (McFarland) McLaughlin.
Richard attended Wilmington schools and graduated from Wilmington High School.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for 29 years as an Iron Worker for Local # 7.
He was a longtime member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Post # 2070.
Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, traveling to Florida, and was an avid baseball and football fan.
The family would like to thank the medical staff on the third and fourth floor at Lowell General-Saints Campus for the compassionate care Richie received while at the hospital. In addition, the family would like to thank the South Tewksbury Fire Department for the attentive response to Richie’s medical needs over for the last 20 years.
In addition to Pauline, Richard is survived by his children, Todd C. McLaughlin and his wife Annabelle of Billerica, Shawn P. McLaughlin and his wife Katherine Blye of Candia, NH, Polly Dienes and her husband John of Billerica, Russell Morris and his wife Laurie of Tewksbury, Terri Morris of Tewksbury, Michael Morris and Sean Christoun of Tewksbury; his grandchildren Shane, Reiley, Carter, Jay, Jared, Katie, Shayla, KeriAnne, and Russell; his siblings Edward McLaughlin and his wife Lisa of Dracut, Patricia St. Pierre of Maine, Francis McLaughlin and his wife Anne of Plymouth, and Lillian Lehman and her husband Henry of Kingston, NH; and many nieces and nephews. Richard is predeceased by the late Raymond Morris.
Calling hours are Thursday, November 11, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, to be followed by his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
