Anna “Anne” (Pappas) Cosmopoulos, age 80, passed away on Sept. 28, 2021 at an assisted living facility in VT, with her children at her side. She was born on Nov. 11, 1940 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Charles Pappas. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George Cosmopoulos; son John Cosmopoulos and his wife Jennifer Cosmopoulos; daughter Katherine Cosmopoulos and her husband Ryan Buck; four beloved grandchildren Jordan, Zoe, Grace and Cora; niece Andrea Coraccio; sisters-in-law Judy Kamont and Ruth Cosmopoulos; sister Anastasia Pappas and many wonderful friends, especially Connie Cekowski, Vicki Blanchard and the Blue Scarf Crew. She is predeceased by her brother Edward Kamont and her brother-in-law Stephen Cosmopoulos.
Anne graduated from Westfield State College and enjoyed a long career as an educator for the Westfield Public Schools. She was an avid reader, often reading several books in a week. She also loved to attend plays and concerts with her husband and their friends. She spent many of her younger years with her grandmother, Alice, who taught her what it felt like to be loved, what it looked like to be a survivor, and what it meant to see her glass as half full instead of half empty. She carried all of this into her adult life as a kind and loving woman. Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of Valley Terrace, who welcomed Anne and made her feel loved and at home during her short, but meaningful, stay there.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, from 9:00-10:00 AM at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Chicopee MA, with a Greek Orthodox funeral service immediately following at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Valley Terrace Assisted Living in memory of Anne, where a memorial fund has been set up in her name (2820 Christian St, White River Junction, VT 05001).
