CONNOLLY, John J. Of South Boston, MA, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2021 at the age of 99. Born in Lowell, MA, he formerly lived in Dorchester, MA in St. Matthew's Parish. John was the loving son of the late Patrick J. Connolly and the late Mary A. Connolly of Dorchester, MA, originally from County Galway, Ireland, the devoted brother to the late Catherine M. Guarino of Brockton and Rita M. Thomson of Taunton. His Irish eyes were always smiling with a special humor that was contagious. A very well-read man with deep roots in his community and a love of gatherings with music. Always talking with the young members of the family, delighting in the spirit of their youth and interested in what interested them. A friendly interest in politics nationally, locally with people in the neighborhood and elected officials, a medaled WWII veteran, who learned French and Gaelic so he could speak with relatives and people he met on his trips to Ireland and Belgium. Retired from Boston City Hospital, he had more time to laugh and talk with his sisters Kay and Rita. We will all miss you very much. Siochain, John in your next journey. Ta gra againn duit. A kind great-uncle to Charlene and her husband Bill Tobin of Franklin, Lisa Brown of Franklin, Christopher and his wife Kristin Brown of Ocoee, FL, Matthew Cassidy of Needham, the late Robert Siteman, II of Brockton, Jennifer Siteman of New Bedford, Andrew Pope, II, Catherine Baz and husband Anees. A kind great-great-uncle to Anthony Fowler of Brockton, Cameron Fowler of New Bedford, James Fowler of New Bedford, Brianna Tobin of Franklin, Cody Snow of Franklin, Declan Brown of Ocoee, FL and Emma Cassidy of Needham. Services have been held.
