Elizabeth M. Murphy
Longtime Tewksbury resident
TEWKSBURY: Elizabeth M. (Parry) Murphy, age 86, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, passed away at Belvidere Healthcare on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
She was the beloved wife of Leon J. Murphy, who passed away on February 2, 2015.
Born in London, England on May 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. Parry and the late Lillian E. (Harris) Parry.
Elizabeth was raised and educated in London.
In the early 1960’s, she met her late husband while he was serving in the U.S. Navy.
Following their wedding in 1963, she came to the United States and became a U.S. Citizen in 1995.
She settled in the Allston area of Boston until moving to Tewksbury, where they raised their three children.
Prior to her retirement, she worked for the AGFA Corporation and Compugraphic in Wilmington.
Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, watching the birds at her bird feeders, playing the lottery, and trying her luck with an occasional scratch ticket.
She is survived by her three children, John J. Murphy and his wife Allison of Townsend, Andrew Murphy and his wife Theresa of Derry, NH, and Bonnie E. Sughrue and her husband Kenny of Acton, ME; three grandchildren, Shannon Kitzhaber and her husband Andrew, and Matthew and Joe Murphy; one great granddaughter, Maria Kitzhaber; also many extended family members.
Calling hours in adherence to State Covid-19 guidelines will be Thursday, Jan. 21, from Noon to 1 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by her graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
