TEWKSBURY: Gregory W. Staples, age 61, a resident of Tewksbury for 27 years, passed away at his home in the care of his family and Seasons Hospice on Monday, January 13, 2020, following a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Katherine A. (McComber) Staples, with whom he celebrated their 44th anniversary together.
Born in Denver, Colorado on October 5, 1958, he was the son of the late Patricia (Labate) Staples.
Greg was raised in Charlestown, MA, attended Charlestown schools, and graduated from Charlestown High School.
Prior to his illness, he was employed as a Field Supervisor by the Comcast Communications Company, where he worked for many years.
Greg was a devoted family man, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He enjoyed running, traveling, and attending trading card expositions.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gregory J. Staples of North Andover, Melanie R. Staples and her spouse Sean Shanahan of Tewksbury, and Kyle A. Staples and his wife Danielle of Tewksbury; three grandchildren, Caleigh, Aidan, and Audrey Shanahan. Greg was the brother of Vincent Tamburello and his wife Ramona, Philip, the late Pamela, Kathy, the late Leonard, Randy, Andrea, and the late Tina. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Calling hours are Friday, January 17, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Saturday, January 18, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
