LEICESTER___John B. Banach 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. John was born and educated in Cieciory Poland, a son of Aleksander and Wladyslawa Bugnacka Banach. He was predeceased by his brothers Alex, Stanley, and Zygmunt and his sister Jadwiga Makarewiec. John leaves his wife Katherine Zlotkowska Banach of 61 years, his children John, Albert Banach and his wife Carrie, Joseph, and Ursula. Along with his children, John leaves eight grandchildren, Kevin and his wife Melissa, Jackie, Christine, Victoria, Sarah and her fiancé Tim, Kimberly, Joshua and Laura Banach. He also leaves behind two great grandchildren Christopher and Zoey. Furthermore, John leaves many nieces and nephews in Poland.
John came to the United States from Poland in 1964. After a short stay in Long Island, John and his family relocated to Worcester where he started working at Table Talk Pies, where he worked for nineteen years. He was a hard worker who befriended many people who would become life-long friends. After Table Talk ceased operations, John worked another thirteen years at WPI until his retirement. John always made time to help out his family or friends whenever someone needed help. He affectionately became known as Mr. FIX IT.
John had many hobbies especially fishing, and a love of the outdoors. He loved his garden especially his prized tomatoes. John also loved to work on cars or trucks helping out family or friends. John always had time to help out a family member, friend, or neighbor. He traveled to many countries in Europe including Poland and Mexico with his wife and friends. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. John was a man of character, humor, dependability, and God. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and the St. Mary’s Boosters. He also was a past member of the PNI Club.
The family would like to extend a thankful acknowledgement to the staff and caretakers at Webster Manor Health Care Center for their kindness and care provided to John and his family.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
