Obituary

DUDLEY – Walter J. Wolenski, 82, of 29 Charlton Road, died Friday, Oct. 14, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Florence D. (Stawiecki) Wolenski; 3 children, Patricia A. Barbour and her husband Bill of Sutton, Elaine Dabrowski and her husband Paul of Webster, and Ken W. Wolenski and his wife Diane of Hampstead, NH; 3 sisters, Anna Lejczowski of Southbridge, Mary Damian of Foxboro, and Nell Dusza of Indian Orchard; 6 grandchildren, Scott, Chris, Steven, Kristen, Kaylin and Matthew; 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael; nephews and nieces.

He was born and raised in Southbridge, a son of Andrew and Anna (Skarbek) Wolenski. He lived in Webster for 15 years before moving to Dudley 45 years ago. He graduated from Cole Trade High School in Southbridge and attended Worcester Junior College He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in both the European and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters.

Mr. Wolenski worked for 42 years at the Webster Lens Company in Webster, and was plant manager for many years before retiring in 1988.

He was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley and the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184. He was a skilled woodworker and liked traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 6 grandchildren.

The funeral, with military honors, will be held Monday, Oct. 17, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours are from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, Oct. 16, in the funeral home.
