Richard Jameson Bell Jr., 58, of Chester, NH, died September 28, 2005 in bed by a window looking out on the trees he loved in Chester. He was born in Winnsboro, SC on January 26, 1947, a son of Richard J. and Margaret A. (Turner) Bell Sr. He was a resident of Chester for over ten years, having grown up in Marblehead, MA. Richard was a graduate of Harvard University as well as the University of Cincinnati with a major in music. He was also a graduate of the NE Conservatory of Music. Richard was both a classical pianist and a composer, and at one time had played with Janis Joplin. Richard enjoyed projects, and built the house he lived in, a three stall garage and a wood shed. He also loved sailing. He was a member fo the Chester Congregational-Baptist Church in Chester.
In addition to his parents of Avon Park, FL, he is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Tammy Grimes of Chester, her daughter Amanda Plummer, two sisters, Nancy Springer of Avon Park, FL, Theresa McDonald of Coral Gables, FL and one niece.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 1:00pm at the Chester Congregational-Baptist Church, Chester St., Chester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Congregational-Baptist Church, PO Box 306, Chester, NH 03036. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is handling the arrangements.
