William A. Mello, age 68, of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday January 11, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Deborah (Simbro) Mello for 46 years, and son of the late Arthur V. and Ines (Castro) Mello. William was the retired Deputy Chief of the Fall River Fire Department where he served for 35 years. He also enjoyed walking, running and spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by children; Melissa McHenry (husband Matthew), and William Mello, grandchildren Kelsey and Matthew McHenry, Jaime, Alex, Camryn and Sebastian Mello, beloved dog Kipper, and 2 nieces . He was also the brother of the late Arthur and James Mello.
The Mello family would like to express their appreciation to Richard Gonsalves, Roger and Muriel Cousineau, Michelle Chouinard, and John Massa, for their loving care.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday here at 10 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Holy Name Church at 11 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Southcoast Hospice VNA 200 Mill Rd.
