Gerald “Gerry” Steele

NAPLES, FL - Gerald “Gerry” Steele, 78, formerly of Malden, MA, and Tewksbury, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on October 7 in Naples.
Born in Malden, MA, he was the son of the late George Steele and Mildred (Sheppard) Steele. Raised and educated in Malden, he was a graduate of Malden Vocational High School, class of 1956. After serving in the US Coast Guard for several years, and until retirement worked at National Super Service for many years as an industrial cleaning floor machine salesman.
Gerry will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his passion for cooking and sharing meals, telling stories of the old days while enjoying a cigar, spending time by the pool at Falling Waters in Naples, FL and driving family and friends around on the boat at Point Sebago Lake in Maine.
He was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joanne (Dunlee) Steele, a son Gary S. Steele and his fiancée Donna Bertolino of Lawrence, MA; daughters Kathi Brock and her husband Robert of Hudson, NH, and Carolyn Lemire and her husband Greg of Lowell, MA; his adored grandchildren Saskia Steele Johnson and her husband Corey of North Dakota, Nicole Morris of Minnesota, Cameron Brock and Bradley Brock of Hudson, NH, Cole Lemire and Luke Lemire of Lowell, MA, great-grandchildren Zoe Schumann, Jaxson Schumann and Kylie Johnson of North Dakota and Vincent Graham of Minnesota; his brother-in-law Carl Toreson of Wells, Maine and many nieces, nephews and friends who he considered extended family.
He was predeceased by his brother George Steele and sister Barbara Toreson.
Memorial visiting hours will be Monday, Oct. 17, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. A Prayer Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 12:00 Noon in Tewksbury Cemetery. Kindly Omit Flowers.
