Christine Elaine Kennedy, RN, MS, MSN, MFCC, age 72, of Ventura, California, passed away at home peacefully while surrounded by her family on January 16, 2016.
Christine Kennedy (Christina) was a lifetime learner, receiving a BS in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary's College, and a Master's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She was a registered nurse, public health nurse, a counselor, and an expressive arts therapist for many years. She was devoted to helping the community, including veterans, medical, and psychiatric patients, seniors, migrant workers, and the homeless. She also served on a number of California State committees to improve health care and access to the underserved. Christina was also a certified Social Security Disability Specialist and Clinical Hypnotherapist and specialized in treating individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and serving the severely traumatized.
Christina was a loving mother and is survived by her three children; Cathy Atkins, John Kennedy, and Beth Kennedy, her daughter-in-law; Sheena Kennedy, and her five grandchildren. Christina is also survived by her siblings; Nicholas Griego, Elizabeth Griego, and Paulette Hendren. She is preceded in death by her mother Mary A. (Sotelo) Griego and Peter Griego.
Christina followed the path of the heart and was loved by many, especially her family. She will be missed but will always remain in the heart of her loved ones.
Visiting hours will be Friday January 29, 2016 from 5 to 8pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME 757 E. Main Street Ventura. The rosary service for Christina Kennedy will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home located at 757 East Main Street in Ventura, California. Christina's funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 12pm at Our Lady of Assumption located at 3175 Telegraph Road, Ventura, California.
