Boylston: Ann F. (McCarthy) Burkhardt, 73, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of almost 50 years John Burkhardt, Sr.; 3 daughters-Heidi and her husband John Verock, Heather Burkhardt, and Colleen Burkhardt; a granddaughter Shannon Cote; 3 brothers- Michael J. and his wife Mary McCarthy, Roger J. and his wife Marilyn McCarthy, and Sean F. McCarthy; a sister- Eileen M. and her husband John Gosselin; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was pre-deceased by her son John W. "Jay" Burkhardt Jr., and a sister Maureen C. Fitman.
Anne was born in Killarney, Ireland, daughter of the late Roger J. and Anne P. (Stokes) McCarthy. She graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1959 and attended Quinsigamond Community College. Over the years, she worked as a clerk in several local retail stores, including R.H. Whites and Marshalls. She was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Church in Boylston. She enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral Mass will be held form Nordgren Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Hills Church 630 Cross St. Boylston, MA 01505. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's memory may be made to A.M.S.A.N. John W. Burkhardt Jr. Scholarship or the Boylston Ambulance and Fire Department.
