Obituary

Mrs. Margaret R. “Peg” (Redding) Burns of Andover and formerly of Wethersfield, Connecticut, died at the Wingate at Andover Nursing Center on Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014. She was 94 years old. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Edwin J. Burns. She married Ed, on June 1 1947, at St Patrick's Cathederal in New York city.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, on October 3, 1919, she was the beloved daughter of the late Maurice and Evelyn (Sweeney) Redding. Mrs. Burns was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, class of 1937 and of Albertus Magnus in New Haven Connecticut. She worked for the State of Connecticut as an accountant for many years. In her younger years, Peg enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors. She also liked to follow world events and the stock market. In recent years she took a keen interest in her granddaughters sports activities, school plays and dance recitals. She enjoyed spending time enjoying the Spring and Fall seasons and overfeeding Skye the Sheltie, with treats. She will be dearly missed.
Margaret is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law; Michael R. and his wife Susan P. Burns of Andover, sister-in-law; Marybelle White of Staten Island, New York and granddaughters; Taylor and Olivia Burns, both of Andover.
Her memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Interment will be private. Calling hours have been omitted. Donations in Peg's memory may be made to the Coleen Ritzer Memorial Scholarship Fund.
