Kevin M. Carey, 55, of Salem, formerly of Stoneham, passed away at home on August 20, 2013 lovingly surrounded by his family, after a valiant 3-year battle with metastatic colon cancer. He was the beloved father of Lynn Carey of Lowell.
Born in Boston, Kevin was the son of the late Robert J. and Jane F. (Andreson)Carey,Sr. He attended Northeast Regional Vocational School, and subsequently enlisted and served in the Navy. Mr. Carey was a construction laborer for many years. In his spare time, Kevin enjoyed antique cars, attending antique car shows, and had proudly owned a 1941 Coupe. He also liked to cook and bake, and particularly loved baking breads with his father.
The Carey family would like to acknowledge and thank the caregivers at the Hospice of the North Shore for their care and commitment to Kevin’s health and comfort during this difficult time.
In addition to his daughter, Kevin is survived by a sister, Susan Perry of Woburn, and brothers, Bob Carey, Jr. of Winchester and John Carey of Billerica, and his longtime companion, Cindy Armstrong of Salem. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial are private.
