Sarah “Inez” Cauthen McCranie, 82, of Tifton died Friday, August 2, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Kevin Kilgore and Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gideons Society. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. McCranie was born on February 28, 1931 in Eldorado and was the daughter of Claude William Cauthen and Mary Olivia Heath Cauthen, both deceased. She was a graduate of Tifton High School and was retired from Georgia Power Company as a customer representative. She had been a member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton for 53 years, where she was a member of the Ann Hammons Sunday school class.
Mrs. McCranie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles McCranie of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tanya McCranie of Orange Park, Florida and Rodney and Brenda McCranie of Lawrenceville; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and David Singer of Tifton; three sisters, Ruth Beard and Helen Sumner, both of Tifton and Nell Howell of Taylors, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Kyle Moody, Jeffrey McCranie, Charles “Chad” McCranie, John McCranie, Laura McCranie, Shannon Singer, Justin Singer, Jake Singer, Elissa Singer, Saralyn Fletcher and Erin Fletcher; and one great-granddaughter, Jaylin McCant.
