Laconia-----Ernest Joseph Laplante, 83, died at Lakes Region General Hospital on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Mr. Laplante was born March 6, 1930 in Lowell, MA, the son of Pierre and Yvonne Laplante.
Mr. Laplante was a long time resident of Lowell, MA and had been a summer resident of Laconia since 1966. He had been a permanent resident of Laconia for the past seventeen years. Mr. Laplante was a proud member of the US Army Reserves, and served as Sergeant First Class. He had been employed by the Greater Lawrence Technical High School as Chairman of the Carpentry Department. He designed, managed, and directed his students in the construction of homes in the Greater Lawrence area.
Mr. Laplante was an active communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He proudly designed and constructed his lakeside home and enjoyed many years of retirement by the water.
Mr. Laplante was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Joan M. Laplante. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Leo J. McCaffrey, of Chelmsford, MA, two brothers, Maurice J. Laplante and his wife, Jeanne, of Pepperell, MA and Michael Laplante of Lawrence, MA; two nieces, Pamela Zupkosky and her husband, Larry, of Westford, MA, Sharon Ryan and her husband, Richard, of Chelmsford, MA and many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Laplante was predeceased by three brothers; Raymond, Donald and Robert Laplante.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013 from 9:30AM-10:30 AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Andre Bessette Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, N.H. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00AM.
Burial will follow at 1:00PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H.
