James Julius (Jim) Bertsch, 70, passed away on June 25, 2013, at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.
Jim was born on December 5, 1942 in Plum, the son of Edwin M. Bertsch and Lillian Ryza Bertsch. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he became an electrician. Later he sold insurance and the then real estate. He was a member of many Christian groups that include the Knights of Columbus, Shriner’s Drum and Bugle Corps and Masons.
He is survived by his son; Dustin Bertsch of Austin; daughter, Yanci Swenson of Edinburg; two brothers, Louis Bertsch of Plum and Freddie Bertsch of Smithville; one sister, Cheryl Gabriel of Vicitoria; six grandchildren, Lane Swenson, Shelby Swenson, Katelan Bertsch, Makenzi Bertsch, Connor Bertsch and Bailee Bertsch.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday June 28, 2013, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday June 29, 2013, at 4:00 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Plum.
