Obituary

Graveside services were held on Thursday May 16, 2013 at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus, NJ, for Dorothy Cohen age 95 of Brewster, MA, formerly of Provincetown, Oradell, NJ and Harrington Park, NJ. She had recently been discharged from the hospital and was at Epoch of Brewster for rehab and passed away in her sleep on May 14th She was the beloved wife of the late Nathan Cohen who died in 2006. Mrs. Cohen was born in the Bronx on March 25, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Simon and Ruth (Greenberg) Lipschitz. She had moved to Provincetown from Oradell, NJ in 2008 to live with her daughter Cynthia Cohen and her spouse Kelli Dahl.

Dorothy was someone who embraced her life fully. She loved spending time with her family, especially when she would have the opportunity to prepare meals for them; cooking was her favorite hobby. While living in Harrington Park she was active in Parent Teacher organizations. She was a member of the American Red Cross, she was an avid bridge player and was a member of the American Bridge Association. Mrs. Cohen was an active athlete most of her life who enjoyed many sports. She played racquetball, swam regularly and played tennis. She excelled at bowling and golf. She was a member of the “200 club” at the Tazz Bowling Alley in Closter, NJ. She was very excited to score a hole in one while playing golf at the Montammy Golf Club in Alpine, NJ. For a short time she served as the president of the Sisterhood organization.

Besides her daughter and daughter in law, she is survived by her sons, Stanley Bass of New York and Robert Cohen of Oradell, NJ, her grandchildren Skyelar Dahl, Jennifer Brondo and her husband Joe, Sarah Weber and her husband Danny and Elizabeth Daigneault and her husband Justin, and her beloved Amazon Parrot Mickey.
