Marjorie F. (Spindler) Smith, a 66 year resident of Melrose, entered into eternal life on Monday, April 1, 2013 at her home in Melrose following an extended illness. She was 89 years old.
Marjorie was born in North Reading on January 10, 1924, a daughter of the late George H. Spindler and Mary T. (McCarthy) Spindler. She grew up in North Reading where she attended North Reading Public Schools and graduated from Reading High School. Marjorie was a dedicated homemaker who took care of her husband and 2 children. She enjoyed knitting, baking, sewing, a day at the beach, but most of all spending quality time with her family.
Marjorie is the beloved wife of the late Ernest M. Smith Jr. She is the devoted mother of Kathleen Adams and her husband Donald of Milton and Wakefield Police Chief Richard E. Smith and his wife Mary Sullivan Smith of Stoneham. She is the loving Grammy to Katherine Wozniak and her husband John of Stewartsville, New Jersey, Thomas Adams and his wife Meghan of Clinton and Meghan Adams of Weymouth. She is the beloved sister of Richard Spindler and his wife Joyce of North Reading and Ft. Myers, Florida and the late Helen Sullivan, George H. Spindler Jr. and Donald Spindler. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marjorie's Funeral on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by her Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 A.M. Interment at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading. Visiting hours will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
