Obituary

George Shaw Stone, 93, of Abington and Eastham, MA died peacefully April 1,2013 with his wife of 60 years, Mildred And his sons by his side. He was the brother of Ruth Poole Hastings of South Weymouth. He was the much-loved father of Peter and wife Helen of Bourne, Jeffrey and wife Candy of Pembroke, Gregory and wife Ann of Falmouth, Todd and wife Elise of Concord and Richard of Marshfield. He was the grandfather of thirteen adoring grandchildren, Ryan, Kara, Allie, Matt, Nicole, Alissa, Katie, Sebastian, Emma, Kelsey, Natasha, Brodie and Isabella and great grandpopop of Brooklynn.

As a young boy, George was a member of the highly acclaimed Bretton Woods Boys Choir. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving his country in Africa, Italy and France. He spent 45 years in the printing industry, often working two full time jobs to support Mildred and five boys. George was a faithful and humble servant of Christ and he enjoyed skiing, singing, mountain climbing and later in life, Cape Cod bike paths and golfing where he had the first daily standing Tee time at Highland Links, Truro on Cape Cod.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 4th from 3:00-7:00PM, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. His funeral service will be held on Friday April 5th at 10:00AM in the Joy in Christ Lutheran Church, 21 S. Bedford St., Abington, MA with interment following at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15PM.
