Robert W. Mortensen, 83, of Hampstead, NH died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford. He was born on June 29, 1929 in Long Island, NY, a son of the late William H. and Marguerite (McCarthy) Mortensen. Bob was a resident of Hampstead since 1968, formerly living in Northboro, MA. While working as an insurance agent, Mr. Mortensen received the designation of CPCU for Property and Casualty Insurance. He was the Quintown Little League Treasurer for 4 years, Hampstead Little League Coach for 7 years, and an Umpire for 14 years. He was also a member of the Hampstead Budget Committee. Bob was an avid Yankees and NY Giants Fan. He loved to visit Ricky’s (Clam Haven) in Derry for the fried clams.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Patricia M. (Hamilton) Mortensen of Hampstead, three children, Debbie Bryant and her husband Don of Hampstead, Steve Mortensen of Epping, NH, and Kathy Werner and her husband Scott of Sandown, NH, four grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Jen and Danielle, two great grandsons, Gavin and Trent, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Michael Mortensen in 1981.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday February 14, 2013 at 10:30am in St. Anne’s Church, 26 Emerson Road, Hampstead. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry are assisting the family with arrangements.
