Obituary

Alice (Pina) Berry Glaspie, 77, of New Bedford died December 4, 2012 at New Bedford Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Gomes) Pina, she lived in Boston before retiring to New Bedford in 2000.
Mrs. Glaspie was a former member of the Union Baptist Church.
She was formerly employed as a teacher's aide in Belmont Public Schools and later helped homeless women at Rosie's Place and helped young mothers at Just A Start House.
Mrs. Glaspie was a member of the YMCA.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Berry and his wife Joselma of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Barbara Grovner of Fernandina Beach, FL, Lois Rose and her husband Peter of New Bedford, Gwenneth Clark and her husband Gilbert of Denver, CO and Allison Berry-O'Toole and her husband Terrence of Scituate; 2 sisters, Wanita London of New Bedford and Rosalie Brewster of Littleton, CO; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Laren Berry and the sister of the late Luiz Pina, Francis Pina, Dominga "Minnie" Grace, Editha "Lydia" Barnes, Albion "Benny" Pina, Alexander "Lexi" Pina, Joseph Pina, Jr., Manuel Pina and Beatrice Hemsley.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 9th from 3-7 PM.
