Stanley C. Gillis, 74, of Derry, NH, died Thursday September 27, 2012 in his home. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 14, 1938, a son of the late Stanley C. Gillis, Sr. and Jean (Robertson) Gillis, and had been a resident of Derry for many years. A veteran of the US Coast Guard, Stan was very proud of his military service. Stan was employed as a printed circuit board salesman for many years, starting out with Hadco Printed Circuits in Derry. He was the Senior Warden at St. Mark’s Lodge #44 F & AM in Derry. Stan had a love for good food, and was known for turning anything into a sandwich. He enjoyed restoring his Porsche, taking great care and pride in his lawn, buying items on Ebay, fly fishing, and a fine cigar. His most enjoyable time was spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Bowers) Gillis of Derry; one son, Walter Gillis and his wife Misty of Londonderry, NH; one daughter, Faith Miller and her husband Stephen of Belmont, NH; four step daughters, Jennifer Farris and her husband Michael of Pelham, NH, Julie DeKraai and her husband Dave of Pembroke, NH, Brenda LeJuene and her husband John of Oskaloosa, IA, Peggy Yeoman of Allenstown, NH; one step son, Robert Gard and Luann of Raymond, NH; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanne McCauley and Jackie Schulman both of IL; one half brother, Tony Pietryla of IL; one half sister, Kim Mulanax of IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a calling hour was held on Wednesday, October 3rd from 6 – 7pm at St. Mark’s Lodge, 58 E. Broadway, Derry. The Masonic Ritual followed at 7:00pm in the Lodge, with a celebration of Stan’s life that followed in the Recreation Hall until 9:00pm. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to assist St. Mark’s Lodge with their ongoing charities.
