Tefta ‘Tess’ (Kontaxi) Pappas, 91, of Lake Parkway passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Her husband of 68 years; Arthur J. ‘Chick’ Pappas died in 2009.
She leaves 2 daughters; Ann L. wife of Al Axtman of Dudley and Lisbeth E. wife of Theodore ‘Ted’ Tonna, Jr. of Webster, 5 grandchildren; Christopher Axtman, Sarah Tonna, Lesley Tonna, Charles Axtman and his wife Kim, and Christa Benoit and her husband Matt, 5 great grandchildren; Elliot, Teddy and Tessa Benoit, Amber and Nathan Axtman.
Tess was born in Southbridge, September 25, 1920, a daughter of Theodore and Jenna (Alabaku) Kontaxi.
She was predeceased by a son John A. Pappas who died in 2002, a brother; Henry Knox and a sister; Mary Woodall.
Tess and her husband Chick co-owned the former Stadium and the former Big Apple in Webster for many years. She was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the Daughters of Penelope, the Philoptochos Society, and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to cook and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren at the family home on Marco Island , she loved riding bike, collecting shells and walking on the beach, where she and her husband resided in the winter and were active for more than 30 years.
The family would like say to express their gratitude to Tri-Valley Elder Services, VNA Care Network and Hospice, and to her caring friend Monica.
The Funeral will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012 with a Service at 11 AM in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 35 Lake Parkway, burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be Monday, September 10, 2012 from 5 to 8 PM (At the Church)
A Trisagion service will be at 7PM,Monday.
The family suggests that flowers be omitted and Memorial Contributions in Memory of Tess be made to: Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 713, Webster,MA.01570.
The Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster is assisting Tess’ family with arrangements.
