Mary G. (Martone) Black, 81, of Worcester, died Monday, July 16th in U-Mass Memorial Hospital. Her husband of 53 years, Richard R. Black, Sr., died in 2010. She leaves two sons, Richard R. Black, Jr. and his wife, Angela of Worcester and Joseph P. Black and his wife, Catherine of Baldwinville; two brothers, Carmen Martone and his wife, Nellie of Shrewsbury and Augie Martone of Lake Mary, FL; five grandchildren, Maria Limoli, Richard R. Black, III, Anthony, Christopher and Joshua Black; and her great-granddaughter, Julianna Limoli; many nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Joseph, Frankie and Guy Martone predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Pasquale and Almirinda (Zannotti) Martone. Mrs. Black was a member of the former St. Charles Borromeo Parish, now known as Our Lady of Mercy Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking, family gatherings and trips to Foxwoods. For many years she had prepared meals for the priests of St. Charles Borromeo Church.
Her funeral is Friday, July 20th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, July 19th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
