...retired window clerk at Tewksbury Post Office; 87
TEWKSBURY - Robert A. "Bob" Bosia, age 87, a familiar face to most Tewksbury residents because of his years of service as a Postal Window Clerk in town, died Monday morning, April 23, at his home following a a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Frances L. (Ferry) Bosia, with whom he had celebrated a 51st wedding anniversary this past September 25th.
He was born in East Boston, a son of the late Joseph and Anita (Maggioli) Bosia, and was raised in East Boston. He graduated from East Boston High School, and went on to attend Bentley College.
He worked at the Tewksbury Branch of the U.S. Postal Service, beginning at the Elm Farm Shopping Center office, and later both Main Street Main Offices. He retired in 1992, after 38 years of service.
He was a charter member for the past 58 years of the Tewksbury-Wilmington B.P.O. Elks, and a 30 year and Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Coppins Council 4336 in Tewksbury.
He also served as an usher at various Masses at St. William's Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, John R. Bosia of Tewksbury, Peggy A. Lennon and her husband Michael of Dracut, Thomas F. Bosia and his wife Diane (Ventrillo) of Derry, NH; five grandchildren, Nicole McAllister of NH, Michael Lennon of NH, Jake Lennon of Dracut, and twins, Nicholas and Elizabeth "Beth" Bosia of NH; a great grandson, Jack McAllister of NH; two sisters, Irene and her husband Michael Paicopolos of Andover and formerly of Somerville, Claire Barkosky of Malden; two brothers, Edmund and his wife Joy Bosia of FL, and Joseph Bosia of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Ernest Bosia, U.S. Army who was killed in action in France during WWII.
His Funeral Service was held Thursday, May 3, in the funeral home, followed by burial in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451, will be appreciated.
